That I AM Theory

   I AM that I AM.  Every time I hear that phrase, that name, GOD's reply to Moses, I always have an ineffable feeling, a sort of vibration - a fast moving wave run through me.  I heard it mostly in my youth and then not again for a very long time.  I left Christianity in my early teens and began exploring.

   The religion of your childhood always has a hold on you, though, even if you've moved on, denounced it, or just ignored it.  It shapes or conditions you in some way as most things of early life do.  I still love the Bible, I just try to read it without any previous conditioning which is hard.  So many wonderful things are in it, such wisdom.  There are other things too that are perhaps not so wise, at least in my experience.  That's another discussion entirely.  But some things stick with you.  I AM that I AM is one of those things.

   I have a theory that was, well, given to me so to speak, revealed.  I"ll try to be brief.  On New Year's Eve 2004, I was sitting alone in my living room waiting for mid-night.  My pregnant wife had gone to bed for obvious reasons and my daughter had long been asleep.  I guess I was going to write some goals for the new year as I had a notepad with me on the couch.  I was thinking about my business, Love One Another, and for some reason that led me to think about the phrase, "I AM that I AM." 

   Suddenly, in a flash of insight, Satori, I knew that all Creation - me, you, and the Universe, is - That I AM.  GOD, the infinite and unmanifest, is the I AM.  Everything else is That I AM.  In that one phrase (name or description) GOD makes known that GOD is the unmanifest and the manifest or all of Creation.  Included in all Creation (That I AM) is the I AM.  GOD is within us, within everything.  It is difficult to express this insight and I hope I have conveyed it to your understanding.  But to say it another way, We are GOD and GOD is US and then you could say GOD IS  ALL THERE  IS.   A good reason to Love One Another, huh, if the theory holds up?

   This insight, God within and without, also recalls the teachings of the Eastern Religions and further clarifies what Jesus says regarding the Kingdom of Heaven being within. 

   Well that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
